Ok lock it in, People feel free to bring along items, the museum is lacking an Amiga 1200 with whdload it was very popular last year could some one bring one/alternative? Also at what age should we eliminate 'gaming machines' should Ps1, Ps2, Dreamcast? machines be allowed or will the event only showcase older machines. |

I feel so terrible Brad .. I contacted you months ago and was determined to get the ball rolling with you on this whole thing but i never followed through.. real sorry my friend.
So here i am and this time i am going nowhere except to the 2008 gaming convention
@Mihcael-: Haha.. gotta love ya mate! .. Yeah i would be happy to do a run through of Turrican at the convention, but the reason why i think i am good at the game is due to the fact i first played it on my C64 back at the start of 1990 for which i played to death over and over and the Amiga version has "exactly" the same map/layout as the C64 version, so that made it easier for me, even if it "is" 18 years later
But i do not think i could finish it in 30 minutes, but if pushed maybe who knows!!?!... if you REALLY REALLY try to finish the game with a ton of lives and go for the highest score, you are looking at around a good 3 hours!!!! .. hehe.. |

No problem blade!
i remember turrican at the last convention - i've gotta say, you're pretty good at it! We might have to put that game on the big screen?
Hey i just thought of something else - has anybody seen the move: The Wizard?
and at the end of the movie where they play super mario bros 3? maybe we should add that to the competition line up?
ive got a few things to donate as prizes - i think the $5 entry fee (or most of it should all go to grapes for letting us use his amazing museum! |

I just want to have a cool day, making money from the event is not important after all the museum will get promotion. I'm sure Turrican and the Mario games will get a good showing. I'm jealous of Blade because he completed Swiv, don't think I will ever achieve that. |

I think November would be good, it would give us plenty of time to advertise the event.
what do you think? |

Sounds like a good month to me ... Actually i noticed in the other thread about perhaps calling the annual games convention an expo! And honestly, that may not be a bad idea, because i was chatting to a friend of mine over the weekend who came over for a game of Worms on my Amiga and we were discussing how we haven't seen anything big like we used to in the very early 90's where you would have a big games expo at the exhibition buildings..etc..
Now although our own games convention is not as massive as that, us guys could be the pioneers ( with brad of course being the founder ) of an eventual HUGE event years down the track! There are SO MANY Retro Gamers out there and if the GAME ON exhibition is anything to go by, Retro Gaming is VERY ALIVE and well!!..
I have not been a huge contributor to this event so far... but if it did get this big, i would happily invest in multiple A1200's with a WHDLoad install ( if that would be legal, having all those games on there? ) for even bigger conventions down the track.
You started this 1 year ago Brad, but this could be the start of something real big |

I have only finished that mother once, and it was back in 1991 with only 1 life left, and i don't think i could ever do it again, because that is one TOUGH game!! |
