We need our PCs to keep us connected to our fave retro gaming site, so here to start things off is some help with your MBR as its one of the most attacked parts of your pc.

your MBR contains your.(see below)

1-bootcode
2-volume bytes
3-partition table
4-signature bytes

the MBR is made up of

440 bytes of bootcode
4 bytes of volume information
2 bytes unused (as far as I know)
64 bytes that have the volume information
2 bytes that close the MBR

making a total of 512kb.

Now if you ever have problems with accessing your HDDrive then you will have to run your PC in dos mode and fix any incorrect values you may find within your MBR to bring it back to life. (many prgs out there 4 dis)

Running a start up disk is often enough, although you can access DOS thru the O/S, use the 1st method. Make a backup at all times of your O/S, but just in case you havent and you want to restore it to its original state, just PM me and I will email you the prgs required to fix this prob. Smile

Now I would appreciate any other input from members regarding their PCs, which we all need to keep in tip top condition, so we can access our fave site Wink

Smile tomz Smile
