i got to to fly it.
We went in a dual seat F/A-18 i sat in the back with the pilot in the front, when we got up to about 30,000 feet he handed over the controls (there are controls in the back too) and i got to have a fly - its great fun
i did some flips and rolls and a bit of cloud bashing, went supersonic too.
i managed to get two flights while i was working at williamtown.
Here's another photo:

Wow he let you take over the controls !!. That would have been the most amazing experience ever!. I am green with envy, but in actual fact i don't know if i would have the guts to take over the controls. lol. Those things move too quick for my brain to comprehend
How much did it cost? how come you were able to go up there ? |

It cost me the grand ol' sum of $0.00
Since im in the Airforce as an avionics technician, my previous posting was up in Williamtown where i worked on the F/A-18 Hornets. I was there for about 5 years and in that time i managed to score two back seat rides. It's pretty intense and you feel like crap afterwards, but it's an amazing ride! |

Here is me half way between Australia and Germany at Hong Kong Airport in April this year ( yeah i know it says Taiwan Beef Noodle, but this really "is" Hong Kong! lol ). I don't look real happy because i had just flown 11 hours in a steel tube. But aren't planes just magnificent pieces of machinery !!.

Travel is great but the flight time sure takes it out of you. Ive been to Hong Kong only once and it was the most exiciting airport landing I have ever experienced in my travels (or ''touring'' as we used to call it back then) I dont know if they still use the same airport there but you came in to land level with the city buildingns and you landed travelling at high speed to a runaway that ended in the harbour,hairy.....
Maybe its the constant noise of the engines (in the background) thats there for the whole duration of the flight.
