My best bargain came from Canberra, from the estate of a friend the late Gordon Wormald who also ran the local C128 Club there. Its my CMD-HD40 and I store all my fave and precious prgs on this, its a quality product and it cost me $100 which is less than a quater of what it cost to import a new one, as much as I like it I would give it up gladly if its previous owner was here today............. Sad

My other bargain (if it could be called that?) is my AR7 which I bought from Datel in the UK,it cost me $70 including postage and in 13 years it has never let me down, but then most hardware built for the C64 had longevity Smile

3 CDTVs thats 3 times better than my one CDTV for nothing, and as far as I am aware, the CDTV was the worlds first Computer (not console) to use a CD disc (correct me if Im wrong!)Oh sure there had been other discs used by regular computers and certain other vid players, that never took off,but it was after the CDTV was released that I recall, music becoming available on then the new CD player. Commodore were always light years ahead in ideas and products. Wink

Anyway I beleive they are (or will shortly become) collectors items in a big way, just for the reasons I have stated. Very Happy And it should also be remembered that you could add a keyboard or just use the remote control and this was in the times when remote (infra-red) wasnt readily available in all new TVs. There must be others as old as I who may remember.....

@AstroBoy - WOW!! Im amazed at that lot,4000 disks is a lot,I know coz I have 20,000+, which is a daunting job where conversion to PC is concerned. And all those other Systems as well, that has to be one of the best bargains I ever heard of. Sounds to me like you did extremely well out of that deal. Very Happy

Today Im not as amazed as I was say 10 years ago, I myself am cleaning out my house at the moment (you know reclaiming rooms that are filled with commy gear and sadly I have to be ruthless, which means finding homes for a lot of things I have painstakingly collected over the past 20 years) but if by chance one of my C64 systems goes to a home where theres never been ''A real McKoy'' well I guesss Im doing someone a favour, coz lets face it Emus suxx, take Vice its nice enough if you want to look at a quater screen but it falls down where some loaders are concerned, and most demos that I have downloaded just dont work 100%

Please dont misunderstand me, I think emus are great, but they do have their shortfalls when compared with a real C64 Wink

OK, guys, this is going to sound like I'm making it up because I hardly believe it myself! I love hard waste clean up day and always find some cool stuff that people recklessly throw out. I'm always hoping that I'll find some retro stuff and occasionally find a few bits and pieces but this is the motherlode!Sitting on the council strip down our street, someone had thrown out...

1 Commodore 64
1 Commodore 64c
1 Commodore Plus 4
1 Commodore 16
2 1530 Datassettes
1 1531 Datassette
1 Commodore VIC20
1 T-1351 Joystick
1 1541 Disk Drive (the one with the grey strip across the front and colour matched to the 64c but not the 1541II)
1 box full of the appropriate power transformers, RF leads and other sundries.

And yes, all of them work! Condition ranges from average to good but after a decent scrub, all should come up spick and span. Nothing was boxed but who cares! It's all FREE! The Plus 4 is what I'm really happy about though because I didn't have one and had actually been meaning to make it my next Ebay hunt.

So what do you reckon about that, guys? The question needs to be asked however, why!? Why would someone throw out all this Commy gear? Could it have been the result of some sort of spousal argument? Or did the person truly believe that it was absolute junk?

We can only guess the thoughts of a madman.
