Just wanted to get an expression of interest and feel for the possibility of some retro gaming on the Sony PSP at Retrobrad.

I can provide an expo on all things retro on the PSP or restrict myself to just commercial releases.

I would like to know if an unrestricted use of the PSP was OK or NOT.
(ie: the use of homebrew and emulators which involves hacking the PSP.)

Either way there is alot to put on show concerning retro gaming even if restricted to commercial titles, especially now that I have the new slim PSP with TV-out.

I'll just list a few of the commercial titles until I can get a yay or nay for the unrestricted retro side of things.

EA Replay (14 Classic EA games)
Midway Arcade Treasures - Extended Play
SEGA Mega Drive Collection
Activision Hits Remixed (contains over 40 of the biggest Atari 2600 titles)
Taito Legends Power-Up
Konami's Gradius Collection
Namco Museum Battle Collection
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed
Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded
Metal Slug Anthology

As you can see that's alot of retro and it only gets better! Updates to old time classics such as.....

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins
Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX
Sonic Rivals 2
OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast
Sega Rally Revo
Wipeout Pure

.... just to name a few!

I think it's safe to say that the Sony PSP platform caters for the retro gamer more than adequately.
Of course it would be impossible to cover everything, but outstanding examples could be.
Would make for an interesting presentation especially on the big screen.

Great to hear retrobrad! That opens up alot more interesting retro capabilites the psp has to offer! Very Happy
Sure! I could show the full capabilites of some of the top emulators including wifi enabled multiplay for some of our old 16-bit favorites.

Doom, Hexen and Heretic have just recently been improved for wifi multiplay too. Quake has had good wifi support for some time now as well.

If anyone needs a downgrade or custom firmware to enable homebrew I can also offer that as a free service too. Not to mention some worthwhile homebrew ports of some classics as well.

Lastly, I mentioned Doom before and I have a very entertaining custom WAD which I could leave as a surprise for on the day. Laughing

is that because the d-pad is analogue?

if so, i hated that same attribute on my zodiac, you just cant play retro games with an analogue control! it sucks!!!

Yeah the d-pad was bad. Sold the unit for more than I bought it. At least I got a profit out of it. The new Model GP2X looks so much better and the d-pad looks like a psp pad now!!
