Very hard to combat. A lot are simple bots that are smart enough to get through the system. You need a PHP master to apply some sort of system _________________ Visit http://www.sickindividual.com |

Yeah its hard to combat and not only that but the last one actually wanted me to buy something, as a C64 scener Im offended by that
Seriously, theres no place for * on a Retro forum site, we love our games and the various systems/consoles its delivered to us on, and thats it, whether Debbie does Dallas or not really doesnt figure in our equation.
Good Luck BRAD,and we'll continue to stay alert as well,I think I speak for most of us when I say we dont like or need * here!!

PS I think Richard/TND had the same thing happening on his forum a few months back. _________________ http://noname.c64.org/csdb/scener/?id=1971 |

Samantha Fox strip poker was different, it was a real * star immortalised in a C64 game
There has been a certain amouint of * on the C64,but thats different! You have the opption of loading (or NOT) the game and * was even found in demos throughout the C64s history. It was mostly amusing not offensive who can forget * Games where you had to jiggle a joystick quicker than a ..................vibrator?? oops sorry dont mean to offend

These * posters must be under the impression that if they post on a forum, many of the readers are going to flock to their site!? Pretty dumb way of thinking, I really cant understand what they get out of it because its not like they are getting back at some individual, they dont even know who they affect.............LAME
On a note As soon as I read something that smells of SPAM, I just try to bring it to the attentiion of the admin and mods, thats about all we can do

remember that many of these spammers are automated bots that find a weakness in the PHP script _________________ Visit http://www.sickindividual.com |

Yeah i agree, idiots!!! why would we even bother joining there crappy sites on the games front i remember Cover Girl Strip Poker on the Miggy.
Of course the Public Domain houses used to push alot of * on disk back in the days and you had the bulletien Boards. Remember the game Klondike anyone??? the X-rated cardsets you could get for it,it`s been available on most systems ever released but like you all have said we are here for retro gaming and to discuss our passion. |

Yep I remember Klondike and also the old 286 with the b/w screen dialing up the BBS at a blistering 2,400 baud rate and the modem that you sit the hand piece of the phone in to connect |

I noticed something odd when I logged on with the number of members as I looked at it last night and it was over the 100 mark. I like your spring cleaning (although its an ongoing one ) I checked out some their web pages, which gives them away most of the time....
They certainly are persistent and what makes it worse theres so many of them, which immediately reminds me of a line in every Star Wars movie (battle scene) "Theres too many of them..."
Shame we cant send a SPIKE via our PCs to the offenders PC but alas thats just for Bond movies

I would run a query on the database connected to this forum once a week or so and delete all users who have not posted at all to help clear things.
You have to remember though most of these spammers are simply programs which seek PHP flaws to post through. I would delete the post as soon as noticed and not keep it active at all. _________________ Visit http://www.sickindividual.com |
